Club Run 17th Feburary 2013

Event: Mt Tamborine Run Overview: What a great day had by all, with an exceptional turn out of cars despite the weather being on and off. The day started off at the meet point (Macleans Bridge Park just north of South Maclean) around 9:30 ~ 10 AM. The general Wolseley conversations were had and morning tea was started whilst we waited for more members to turn up. We did see someone’s car overshoot the park and upon arrival that they took a nice drive to Beaudesert and back (we won’t mention any names) . It was great to see that some travelled some distance to come to the run (Gavin and ?? in their Wolseley 24/80 from Gympie) In the general conversation, Bill informed us that the park that we were in was well and truly under water during the Australia Day Floods, no wonder the surrounding country side was nice and green. After the lovely morning tea we all set off towards Mt Tamborine, Bill had a few stops organised along the way. We set off towards Jimboomba, but turned off just before the township and ventured along Mundoolun Road towards Tamborine. It was great to see a convoy of older cars cruising along the road. First stop was the Old Church and cemetery at Mundoolun. It was such nice looking building and probably only know by locals as it is not visible from the main road unless you are really looking. We took advantage of the sunshine and got a few nice shots of the cars parked out the front. After taking a good look around, we set off once again. Up the mountain we go, it was a little slow going up the hill but all cars made it up in one piece, with no overheating issues. At the top of the mountain we stopped off at Cedar Creek falls, there was a little water crossing before entering into the National Park. We parked all the cars and took a nice pleasant stroll down to see the water falls. It was a nice way to work up our appetite for lunch. Everyone was starting to get a bit peckish, so we made our way back to the cars and headed off to lunch. We took the opportunity to get some nice photos of the cars at the water crossing, I am not sure how many times David crossed but it looked like he was having fun. Thanks Majella for the images. A nice lunch was had at St Bernard’s on Mount Tamborine, nice views from the pub and great company. Lastly we did all venture to the Lavender farm only to be found out it had been sold. Everyone then departed for home. I would like to thank Bill Martin for organising an excellent run.
