DAY 4 Wednesday 17th April – Run to Wyaralong Dam and Boonah

Wednesday bought us a nice drive out into the country side, checking out the sights of Boonah and surrounding districts. Even though it was an early morning start everyone was on time, and ready to go. Bill addressed the crowd stating where we were going and what we would be doing for the day as well as stating that we would be quizzed on todays events.

Everyone set off in convoy towards Wyaralong Dam our first stop. Lots of roadworks were being performed along the road but due to our convoy we were quickly waived through. Some interesting conversations on the UHF radio, were heard. Most of which were the workmen commenting on the cars that were driving past.

On arrivial at Wyaralong Dam, we parked the cars and waited for everyone to arrive. All cars made the journey in one piece. The local CWA ladies had prepared a nice spread of biscuits, slices and cakes as well as hot tea and coffee for morning tea. Everyone was left to admire the beautiful location and the cars before we set off to Boonah for lunch.

Before long we were all back on the road again, off to Boonah and the Dugandan Hotel for lunch. At the Dugandan Hotel there was a nice big shaded area out the back and the majority of us decided to sit out there waiting patiently for lunch. Whilst waiting Bill informed us that we had a car display in the Main street of Boonah and that the road has been blocked off for us. When lunch was finished all cars assembled in the Main street for the display and we could look at the assortment of local shops.

By 2:30pm, we had to leave main street and make our way back to Ipswich we could do this at our own leisure and take alternative routes back to Ipswich if we wished.

Everyone reassembled back at Swifts for dinner, Bill had a questionaire for everyone to complete on everything Wolseley and Boonah related. Not sure of the average score but it would of been low. The night ended with raffles.
