DAY 2 Monday 15th April – Run to Haines Group / Queens Park

What an excellent start to the week, nothing but blue skies and sunny weather expected for the whole week.

People started assembling at the meeting point, Queens Park was undergoing some renovations so there was a lot of heavy machinery about. At the assembly point, Bill Martin informed everyone that we would be split into two groups as there was limited number of car parks at Haines Group and what else was going on throughout the day.

The first group set off at 9:30 am, closely followed by the second group which departed at 10 am. We headed down the Ipswich Motorway in convoy, on our way to Haines Group keeping a steady pace for all to keep up and assuring no one got lost. At Haines group we were taken on a guided tour of the facility in a number of smaller groups, checking out all things fibre glass that were made there.

After the tour and inspection of the facility and nice display caravan, we all headed back to Queens park cafe for lunch. The Cafe catered the group with a good spread of sandwiches, cakes and fruit. All cars were assembled on the hill at Queens park for a nice group shot. The Ipswich Veteran & Vintage Vehicle Club (IVVVC) supplied a number of judges to judge all cars on display, the afternoon was spent mingling with all participants and discussing various aspects of each others cars.

Everyone reassembled for dinner at Swifts Sports Club, where Kevin addressed everyone about today’s events, and Bill informed us of tomorrow’s events. After dinner there was a number of raffles.
